PARKS CREWS RETRAINING FOR SNOW CLEARING DUTIES IN WINTER

The RMWB has grown from approximately 300 employees in 2008 to more than 1,000 in 2012.  During that period of time, there have been five Chief Administrative Officers heading up the municipality.

Resiliance has become a work life requirement at the RMWB.

With the arrival of CAO Glen Laubenstein in November, 2010, there has been massive reorganization and a noticeable reduction within the ranks of management.

Current CUPE 1505 President Della Kerfont invited Glen Laubenstein to address CUPE membership at a special meeting in November, 2011, at which time he assured the membership that CUPE jobs would not be lost, but that there would be retraining offered and provided in the instances of job position elimination and changed description.

This photo illustrates one such training session within Parks, where Parks personnel are being cross-over trained so that, in the summer months, Parks crews can maintain municipal properties and continue with Beautification objectives, but, in the winter months, they will be operating snow clearing equipment.
