CUPE District Labour Council

On May 14, 2012 at the CUPE National office in Fort McMurray, representatives from the region's CUPE locals met to re-establish the CUPE District Labour Council. Then National Representative Greg Ingram called for election of officers with the following results:

President:                   Danielle Danis, CUPE Local 2559

Vice-President:            Myra Ross, CUPE Local 1550

Treasurer:                   Valerie Gerein, CUPE Local 2545

Recording Secretary:    Alice Lerchs, CUPE Local 1505

Two-year Trustee:        James McIlveen, CUPE Local 1505

A primary purpose of reinstituting the CUPE District Labour Council is that Fort McMurray and the region will be hosting the 2013 Alberta Division Conference.

A secondary purpose of reinstituting the CUPE District Labour Council is to lead the development of the CUPE at your service! campaign under the direction of the Alberta Division and National Office.

By virtue of their occupations, their families and permanent residency, their pursuits and interests, including volunteerism, CUPE members make a difference in their respective communities right across the country.
